A group of 35 senior students of EEE & ETE from the School of Engineering & Computer Science (SECS) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) visited Energypac Electronics Ltd. on 30 June, 2012 as a part of their regular field experience programme. IEEE IUB Student Branch arranged this industrial tour and the participations were mostly limited to the IEEE student members. In this trip to one of the largest CFL lamp makers in Bangladesh, they were accompanied by IEEE IUB Student Branch counselor Dr. Feroz Ahmed and two other faculty members - Dr. Abdur Razzak, Ms. Fatema Binte Zia. The students were briefed about the company by the Managing Director of Energypac Power Generation Ltd. Mr. Humayun Rashid. Thereafter, the students were toured to the different units of the factory to have a close view of the step-by-step construction process of energy savings CFL lamp, electronic balast, electronic regulator and MK switch by the factory engineers. The trip also continued to different testing laboratories for these products. The question and answer session provided good insight of these important electrical & electronic products. On the whole, the trip was an excellent opportunity for the students of EEE & ETE to find practical applications of their classroom-based knowledge.
