Independent University, Bangladesh was set up by the Education, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Development Trust (ESTCDT) in 1993 under the Private University Act (1992). From its inception, IUB has always striven for quality in education.
School of Engineering & Computer Science (SECS) is responsible for teaching engineering related subjects at IUB. The school emphasizes upon innovation and research, as much as it does on teaching. Students coming to IUB to study engineering can expect a curriculum that is constantly updated, dedicated faculty members, an excellent teacher-student relationship, and cutting-edge know-how.
The degree programs of SECS include both undergraduate and graduate programs. It undergraduate program offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Telecommunication Engineering. The school also offers Master of Science degrees in Computer Science, Computer Networks & Communication, Software Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering.
To keep pace with fast-changing technology of the world, the faculty members of SECS constantly update their methods of teaching. The teachers greatly emphasize upon using technology to their advantage. The school maintains a Course Management and Operation System (CMOS) where most teachers host their teaching materials so that these could be accessed by the students through the Internet from anywhere. To facilitate a hands-on experience in learning, the school has set up several labs where practical classes are conducted. These include well-equipped computer labs, electronics lab, microprocessor lab, telecommunication lab, and power system lab.
